Frequently asked questions
Divide 8 by 4 to get a scale factor of 2, then multiply every ingredient amount by 2. Our recipe scaler does this math automatically for any serving size.
Use 3/4 cup (12 tablespoons) of oil to replace 1 cup of butter. This 3:4 ratio accounts for butter being about 80% fat while oil is 100% fat. Use a neutral oil like canola for best results.
Gas mark 6 equals approximately 200°C (400°F). Gas marks increase by about 14°C (25°F) per step, starting at gas mark 1 = 140°C (275°F).
Reduce oven temperature by 25°F (about 15°C) and reduce cooking time by 20%. Air fryers circulate hot air more efficiently, so food cooks faster and crispier. Check food halfway through.
1 cup of all-purpose flour weighs approximately 120 grams when spooned and leveled. Different ingredients have different densities - 1 cup of sugar weighs 200g and 1 cup of butter weighs 227g.
