20% of 150 = 30. Multiply 150 by 0.20. To do this in your head: 10% = 15, double it = 30.
Percentage change = (New - Old) / Old × 100. If a stock goes from $80 to $100: (100 - 80) / 80 × 100 = +25% increase.
Markup is profit as a percentage of cost. Margin is profit as a percentage of price. A $60 cost and $100 price: 66.7% markup but only 40% margin.
Multiply the original price by (1 - discount/100). For 25% off $120: $120 × 0.75 = $90. You save $30.
Divide the numerator by the denominator and multiply by 100. For 3/8: 3 ÷ 8 = 0.375 × 100 = 37.5%.
