Calculate the sale price and savings from a discount percentage.

Results

Sale price$90.00
You save$30.00
You pay per $1 original$0.75
Two 12.5% discounts stacked$91.88

Calculate what you actually pay after a discount. Enter the original price and discount percentage to see the sale price and savings. The calculator also shows what two half-discounts stacked would cost - a useful comparison since stacking two 15% discounts is not the same as one 30% discount.

Frequently asked questions

Multiply the price by 0.75 (which is 1 - 0.25). For $120: $120 × 0.75 = $90. You save $30.

No. Two 20% discounts stacked give you 36% off, not 40%. The second discount applies to the already-reduced price: $100 × 0.80 × 0.80 = $64 (36% off), not $60 (40% off).

Divide the sale price by (1 - discount/100). If the sale price is $75 after 25% off: $75 / 0.75 = $100 original price.

It depends on the price. On a $50 item, $20 off is better (40% discount). On a $200 item, 20% off is better ($40 saved). The break-even point is $100 where both give $20 off.

Compare the final price, not the discount percentage. A 40% discount on a $200 item ($120 final) costs more than a 20% discount on a $100 item ($80 final). Always compare the actual amount you pay.
