Frequently asked questions
Divide the numerator by the denominator and multiply by 100. For 3/8: 3 ÷ 8 = 0.375, × 100 = 37.5%.
1/2 = 50%, 1/3 = 33.33%, 1/4 = 25%, 1/5 = 20%, 1/8 = 12.5%, 1/10 = 10%, 2/3 = 66.67%, 3/4 = 75%, 3/5 = 60%, 7/8 = 87.5%.
Put the percentage over 100 and simplify. 37.5% = 37.5/100 = 375/1000 = 3/8. For repeating decimals like 33.33%, use the known fraction (1/3).
If 3/8 = 37.5%, the reciprocal 8/3 = 266.67%. This tells you how many times the denominator fits into the numerator as a percentage. It is the inverse relationship.
Find the greatest common divisor (GCD) of the numerator and denominator, then divide both by it. For 6/8: GCD is 2, so 6/2 = 3, 8/2 = 4, simplified = 3/4.
