Enter both times in 24-hour format (0-23 for hours, 0-59 for minutes). The calculator subtracts the first from the second and shows the gap in HH:MM and decimal hours.
The calculator handles overnight spans. If event 1 is at 22:00 and event 2 at 06:00, it calculates 8 hours correctly by wrapping around midnight.
Decimal hours are standard for billing and payroll. A meeting from 9:00 to 10:45 is 1h 45m, or 1.75 decimal hours. Lawyers, consultants and contractors commonly bill in decimal increments.
